Pokémon Phantasmal Flames UAE: Charizard X & AED Prices

Phantasmal Flames (set code ME02) is the second main expansion of the Mega Evolution era — and the one that drove the biggest secondary market reaction of any modern Pokémon set in recent memory. Released 14 November 2025, it brought back two of the most beloved Megas ever printed: Mega Charizard X in his blue-flame glory, and Mega Gengar with arguably the cleanest ghost-Pokémon art of the era. Six months on, the Mega Charizard X SIR has outperformed every other Mega-era chase card.

TL;DR

  • Released 14 November 2025 worldwide
  • 130 cards total (94 main + 36 secret rares)
  • 6 Mega Pokémon ex: Charizard X, Gengar, Lopunny, Sharpedo, Diancie, Heracross
  • Retail: ETB AED 259, Booster Box AED 679, UPC (Mega Charizard X) AED 459
  • Top chase: Mega Charizard X ex SIR trading around AED 2,800 raw NM — the highest of any Mega-era card outside Ascended Heroes
  • The Mega Charizard X MHR (gold) has corrected hard from launch; the SIR has held remarkably steady

What's in Phantasmal Flames: Set Overview

Phantasmal Flames is a one-card-concentrated set. Most of the value sits in the Mega Charizard X chase line, but the supporting cast is strong — Mega Gengar, Mega Heracross, and Mega Lopunny all have credible chase art, and the set's smaller card count means a tighter master-set proposition than Mega Evolution (ME01).

Phantasmal Flames Top Chase Cards

A genuinely top-heavy set. The Charizard chase line is doing nearly all the heavy lifting, but the supporting SIRs are catching up.

1. Mega Charizard X ex — Special Illustration Rare

The painterly blue-flame Charizard. Around AED 2,800 raw NM and remarkably stable — has held in the AED 2,700–2,900 range since launch while most modern chases have softened. Charizard nostalgia plus the Legends: Z-A tie-in plus the SIR being the first Mega Charizard X ever in the modern TCG combine to make this one of the strongest holds of the Mega era.

2. Mega Charizard X ex — Mega Hyper Rare

The gold-etched version. Around AED 1,460 raw NM, down from a launch peak around AED 2,500 as supply caught up. MHR golds typically correct harder than SIRs, and Charizard's MHR followed that pattern — but it remains the second-most-valuable card in the set by a wide margin.

3. Dawn — Special Illustration Rare

The Trainer SIR sleeper of the set. Around AED 660 raw NM. Trainer SIRs in the Mega era have outperformed expectations (see Lillie's Determination in ME01), and Dawn's painterly Sinnoh-inspired art continues that pattern.

4. Mega Sharpedo ex — Special Illustration Rare

Around AED 480 raw NM. The art — Sharpedo cresting through dark water with bioluminescent flecks — is one of the most distinctive in the set.

5. Mega Lopunny ex — Special Illustration Rare

Around AED 380 raw NM. The "gateway" SIR for collectors who want a Phantasmal Flames hit without paying Charizard money.

Honourable mentions

  • Mega Gengar ex (SIR) — around AED 295 raw NM; print volume kept this one accessible
  • Mega Diancie ex (SIR) — around AED 250 raw NM
  • Mega Heracross ex (SIR) — around AED 195 raw NM

Phantasmal Flames ETB vs Booster Box vs UPC: Which Should You Buy?

If you want… Buy… Why
The most packs per dirham Booster Box (AED 679) 36 packs, best per-pack rate
The Mega Charizard X collector experience UPC (AED 459) Premium box with Charizard-themed extras and jumbo art
Packs + promo + accessories Elite Trainer Box (AED 259) Charcadet promo, sleeves, dice
A specific chase card Singles The Mega Charizard X SIR pull rate makes sealed-route maths brutal
A casual pack-cracking session 3-Pack Booster Blister Three packs, easy entry

The UPC is the standout product here — a Pokémon Center exclusive Mega Charizard X UPC was speculated pre-release, and the wider-release variant gives collectors a Charizard-themed sealed product at a price point that sits below the Booster Box.

Phantasmal Flames Meta Impact: Mega Charizard X ex & Mega Gengar ex

Phantasmal Flames added two competitively viable Megas to the format:

  1. Mega Charizard X ex — 330 HP, fire-type Mega with strong attacking output. Pairs with Magma Basin energy acceleration to enable big single-prize KOs.
  2. Mega Gengar ex — 320 HP, ghost/dark type. Phantom Drain enables consistent disruption, and Gengar's traditional bench-target potential made it a strong sideboard pick across late-2025 regional play.

Mega Charizard X has been the headline competitive card; Mega Gengar has settled into a more situational role in disruption decks. With Perfect Order (ME03) now adding Mega Zygarde ex and Meowth ex to the format, the Mega-era meta is broader than ever.
