Mega Evolution (set code ME01) is the set that started it all. Released 26 September 2025, it brought Mega Pokémon back to the TCG for the first time since 2016 — and reset the entire competitive format around the new high-HP, three-prize Mega ex mechanic. Mega Lucario, Mega Gardevoir, Mega Venusaur, Mega Latias and four more got the treatment, and seven months on, prices have stabilised enough to give us a clear view of what's worth chasing.

What's in Mega Evolution: Set Overview
Mega Evolution (ME01) is the first main expansion of the new era, succeeding the Scarlet & Violet block. The set is built around the return of Mega Evolution as a core game mechanic — driven by the Pokémon Legends: Z-A video game tie-in — and reintroduces a redesigned card frame, a new Mega Hyper Rare gold-foil treatment, and the era-defining 310 HP three-prize Mega ex format.

Mega Evolution Top Chase Cards
ME01's chase list is unusually wide — two Mega Hyper Rares at the top instead of one, and a deep bench of strong Special Illustration Rares.
1. Mega Lucario ex — Mega Hyper Rare
The set's headline card. Gold-etched, full-art, and the chase that defined the Mega era's launch. Currently trading around AED 955 raw NM, down from a launch peak around AED 2,200 as supply caught up. Lucario is also competitively viable thanks to Aura Sphere (200 damage, ignores resistance and weakness), so demand has held better than typical post-launch corrections.
2. Mega Gardevoir ex — Mega Hyper Rare
The second MHR in the set. Around AED 825 raw NM. Miracle Shine (230 damage, prevents opponent attack effects) gives it competitive utility, but the chase is overwhelmingly collector-driven — the gold treatment on Gardevoir's ethereal art is one of the cleanest of the era.
3. Mega Gardevoir ex — Special Illustration Rare
The painterly version, and one of the rare cases where an SIR sometimes trades close to the MHR. Around AED 855 raw NM. The art (Takuyoa) leans into Gardevoir's psychic-fairy duality with a soft, almost watercolour palette.
4. Mega Lucario ex — Special Illustration Rare
Around AED 600 raw NM. Action-pose Lucario in mid-Aura Sphere, contrasting the more contemplative MHR.
5. Mega Venusaur ex — Special Illustration Rare
Around AED 420 raw NM. The set's "starter Pokémon" SIR, and a strong sleeper pick — Venusaur SIRs across eras tend to appreciate steadily for the Gen 1 nostalgia anchor.
