Pokémon Journey Together UAE: Lillie's Clefairy & AED Prices

Scarlet & Violet—Journey Together (set code SV09) is the ninth main expansion of the Scarlet & Violet block — and the set that brought Trainer's Pokémon back to the main TCG for the first time since 2004's EX Team Magma vs Team Aqua. Released 28 March 2025, it built the foundation for the Trainer's Pokémon mechanic that Destined Rivals would expand on two months later. The result: one of the most collector-driven sets of the era, with the Lillie's Clefairy ex SIR emerging as the headline chase despite Clefairy itself being a budget-tier Pokémon.

TL;DR

  • Released 28 March 2025 worldwide — the ninth S&V main expansion
  • 190 cards total (159 main + 31 secret rares)
  • Theme: Trainer's Pokémon — N, Iono, Lillie, Hop
  • Retail: ETB AED 259, Booster Box AED 679
  • Top chase: Lillie's Clefairy ex SIR trading around AED 465 raw NM (PSA 10s clearing AED 1,500+)
  • First main expansion to centre Trainer's Pokémon since EX Team Magma vs Team Aqua in 2004

What's in Journey Together: Set Overview

Journey Together is built around the Trainer's Pokémon mechanic — Pokémon belonging to a specific Trainer rather than generic ones. Four Trainers carry the set: N, Iono, Lillie, and Hop, each with multiple ex cards depicting their signature Pokémon. Smaller than a typical S&V set (190 master cards vs. Surging Sparks' 382), it punches above its weight on character recognition rather than card count.

Set detail Value
Release date 28 March 2025
Set code SV09 (JTG)
Card count (main) 159
Total master set 190 cards
Pokémon ex 12 (mostly Trainer's Pokémon ex)
Special Illustration Rares 6
Hyper Rares 5
Featured Trainers N, Iono, Lillie, Hop

The set sources from Japan's Battle Partners expansion (January 2025) and adds cards from the Generations Start Decks. The reduced SIR count (6 vs. 10–12 in larger sets) means each SIR pulls at a worse rate than usual: roughly 1 in 86 packs for any SIR.

Journey Together Top Chase Cards

A tightly concentrated chase list. Lillie's Clefairy ex SIR sits well above the rest, with three solid mid-tier SIRs and a handful of sleeper picks.

1. Lillie's Clefairy ex — Special Illustration Rare (#184)

The defining chase of the set. Around AED 465 raw NM, with PSA 10 copies clearing AED 1,500+. What's striking: a regular Clefairy is a budget-tier card. Lillie alongside it transforms a USD 5 Pokémon into the most valuable card in the set. Pure Trainer-equity in action, illustrated by Susumu Maeya. PSA 10 population is growing but the premium on pristine copies remains strong.

2. Salamence ex — Special Illustration Rare

Around AED 220 raw NM (PSA 10: ~AED 1,085). Dragon-type fan-favourite from Gen III with sweeping painterly art by Tsuyoshi Nagano. The card has appreciated steadily since launch — Salamence carries strong nostalgia equity from the Hoenn era.

3. N's Zoroark ex — Special Illustration Rare (#185)

Around AED 200 raw NM. N and Zoroark depicted with appropriate Team Plasma menace. N's character recognition from BW combined with Zoroark's design popularity makes this a dual collector + player chase. Trickery Strike attack gives the card competitive viability.

4. Hop's Zacian ex — Special Illustration Rare

Around AED 185 raw NM. Hop's playful Galar protagonist energy with the Sword & Shield mascot. Hop's Zacian decks have a niche following — Brave Slash + Hop's Choice Belt + Hop's Snorlax (as the main attacker) is a coherent budget archetype.

5. Iono's Bellibolt ex — Special Illustration Rare

Around AED 105 raw NM (PSA 10: ~AED 1,285 — the highest PSA 10 multiplier of any card in the set). The cuteness chase — Iono hugging Bellibolt with her signature pink and electric-yellow palette. Raw prices are lower because pull rates favoured this card over others, but PSA 10 demand is exceptional.

Honourable mentions

  • Lillie's Clefairy ex (Hyper Rare gold) — around AED 285 raw NM; the gold version of the top chase
  • N's Reshiram ex (SIR) — around AED 125 raw NM; teaser for the BWR Reshiram that arrived in White Flare four months later
  • Lillie's Pearl (Trainer Hyper Rare) — around AED 95 raw NM

Journey Together ETB vs Booster Box: Which Should You Buy?

If you want… Buy… Why
The most packs per dirham Booster Box (AED 679) 36 packs at AED 18.86 each — but EV is brutal at this set's pull rates
Packs + promo + accessories Elite Trainer Box (AED 259) N's Zorua promo, sleeves, dice
A casual pack-cracking session 3-Pack Booster Blister (AED 69) Three packs + a promo, no commitment
A specific chase card Singles At 1 in 86 packs for any SIR, you'd open ~8 boxes to guarantee a specific one

The pull rate math on Journey Together is genuinely brutal for chase-seekers. A specific SIR pulls at roughly 1 in 1,033 packs — so chasing Lillie's Clefairy ex SIR via sealed product is wildly inefficient. The singles route is 3–4× more cost-effective for any specific chase.

Journey Together Meta Impact: N's Zoroark ex & Lillie's Clefairy ex

Two cards from Journey Together saw real Standard format play:

  1. N's Zoroark exTrickery Strike copies attacks from your opponent's Pokémon, slotted into deck archetypes that need a flexible attacker without committing to a specific type. Saw regional play through Q2 2025.
  2. Lillie's Clefairy ex — surprising competitive value. Fairy Zone ability changes any opposing Dragon-type's weakness to Psychic (applying 2× damage), and the cheap Full Moon Rondo attack scales with bench count. Niche but viable, especially against Dragon-heavy metas.

The set's competitive contribution is real but understated — Journey Together is primarily a Trainer-driven collector set, not a meta-defining one.

Journey Together FAQ

When was Pokémon Journey Together released? Worldwide on 28 March 2025.

How many cards are in Journey Together? 159 in the main set, with 31 secret rares for a 190-card master set.

What's the chase card? Lillie's Clefairy ex Special Illustration Rare (#184) — currently trading around AED 465 raw NM. PSA 10 copies have cleared AED 1,500+. The most valuable card in the set despite Clefairy itself being a budget-tier Pokémon — pure Trainer-equity.

What's "Trainer's Pokémon"? A mechanic that returns Pokémon owned by specific Trainers — Lillie's Clefairy, N's Zoroark, Iono's Bellibolt, etc. The mechanic was first introduced in EX Team Magma vs Team Aqua in 2004 and hadn't appeared in a main expansion since. Journey Together brought it back and Destined Rivals expanded on it two months later.

What's the difference between regular Clefairy and Lillie's Clefairy ex? "Lillie's Clefairy ex" is a different card from "Clefairy" — it's owned by the Trainer Lillie, has full-art Trainer + Pokémon illustration, and is an ex card with the Fairy Zone ability. The SIR version is the chase card of the set.
