Pokémon 151 UAE: Charizard ex SIR & AED Prices

Scarlet & Violet 151 is the modern Base Set. Released 22 September 2023, it was the first Pokémon TCG release in over two decades to feature all 151 original Kanto Pokémon together — and it has held value better than almost any modern Pokémon set, full stop. Two and a half years later, the Charizard ex SIR still sits above AED 1,300 raw and the sealed product still moves at a premium when it appears. This is the set that proved nostalgia outperforms hype, and its model directly inspired the later Black Bolt and White Flare Unova-Pokédex special sets.

TL;DR

  • Released 22 September 2023 worldwide
  • 207 cards total (165 main + 42 secret rares and special art)
  • Mew ex is the eponymous headliner; Charizard ex is the chase
  • Retail: ETB AED 259, Booster Bundle AED 169, Mini Tin AED 99
  • Top chase: Charizard ex SIR (#199) trading around AED 1,370 raw NM, having held above AED 700 for over a year
  • Sealed product trades at a significant premium when it does turn up — limited reprint allocation has kept supply tight

What's in 151: Set Overview

Scarlet & Violet 151 (set code SV3.5) is a special expansion sitting between the main S&V sets. It's a love letter to Generation 1 — every original Kanto Pokémon gets a card, the artwork leans into early-era nostalgia, and the secret rares are dominated by the starter trio plus Mew ex.

Set detail Value
Release date 22 September 2023
Set code SV3.5
Card count (main) 165
Total master set 207 cards
Pokémon ex 11
Illustration Rares 12
Special Illustration Rares 6 (including Charizard, Blastoise, Venusaur, Mew ex)
Hyper Rares 5

The set's defining feature isn't a single chase card — it's that completing it gets you the entire Kanto Pokédex in one binder. That has driven sustained demand from collectors who don't normally buy modern Pokémon.

151 Sealed Product Prices in the UAE

Product Contents Price (AED)
Booster Bundle 6 packs AED 169
Mini Tin (10 art variants) 2 packs + foil promo + coin + art card AED 99
Elite Trainer Box 9 packs + Snorlax promo + 65 sleeves + accessories AED 259

A note on 151 sealed product: the original print runs sold out fast, and reprints have been allocated tightly. UAE retail stock is intermittent — check availability before assuming any product is in stock at MSRP.

151 Top Chase Cards

Top-tier modern Pokémon SIR chase list — three Kanto starters, a Mew, and a handful of supporting cards.

1. Charizard ex — Special Illustration Rare (#199)

The defining chase. Around AED 1,370 raw NM as of mid-2025/early-2026. Held above AED 700 for over a year, which almost never happens with modern Pokémon cards — usually they correct sharply post-launch. Charizard 151 SIR has done the opposite: appreciated. This card defined the modern Pokémon market for collectors returning to the hobby.

2. Mew ex — Special Illustration Rare

The set's eponymous Pokémon. Around AED 580 raw NM. Genome Hacking gives Mew ex unique competitive utility (copying any Pokémon's attacks), so demand is split between collectors and Mew-deck players.

3. Blastoise ex — Special Illustration Rare

Around AED 245 raw NM. The Kanto Water-starter SIR — clean classical artwork, strong nostalgia anchor.

4. Venusaur ex — Special Illustration Rare

Around AED 225 raw NM. The Grass-starter completing the trio. Slightly less premium than Blastoise, but the three together are the master-set centrepiece.

5. Mew ex — Hyper Rare (Gold)

Around AED 380 raw NM. The gold version of Mew ex. Sits between the SIRs in pricing.

Honourable mentions

  • Erika's Invitation (Hyper Rare) — around AED 220 raw NM; the strongest non-Pokémon hit in the set
  • Alakazam ex (SIR) — around AED 145 raw NM
  • Zapdos ex (SIR) — around AED 130 raw NM

151 ETB vs Bundle vs Mini Tin: Which Should You Buy?

If you want… Buy… Why
Packs + promo + accessories Elite Trainer Box (AED 259) Snorlax full-art promo, 65 sleeves, dice — single retail design
A casual pack-cracking session Booster Bundle (AED 169) Six packs, no commitment
A specific chase card Singles Charizard SIR pull rate is brutal; singles route is far more efficient
A starter gift Mini Tin (AED 99) One of the lower-cost entry points — 10 art variants

Note that 151 doesn't have a standard 36-pack Booster Box in the way newer sets do, and the Ultra-Premium Collection wasn't released in the UAE.

151 Meta Impact: Mew ex & Erika's Invitation

Despite being a special set, 151 contributed two competitively significant cards:

  1. Mew exGenome Hacking lets Mew copy any attack from any Pokémon in play. That's a single-card toolbox effect rarely seen in modern Pokémon, and Mew ex decks remained Standard-viable for the entire 18 months following release.
  2. Erika's Invitation — search-card Supporter that has shown up in tier-1 deck lists across multiple metas. One of the most-played Trainers from the set.

Most cards in 151 are competitively secondary, but these two earned their keep.

151 FAQ

When was Pokémon 151 released? 22 September 2023.

How many cards are in 151? 165 in the main set, with 42 secret rares and special art for a 207-card master set — including all 151 original Kanto Pokémon.

What's the chase card? The Charizard ex Special Illustration Rare (#199) — currently trading around AED 1,370 raw NM. One of the most consistent value-holders of the modern era.

How much is a 151 Elite Trainer Box in the UAE? AED 259, when in stock. Reprint allocation has kept supply intermittent — confirm with retailers before assuming availability.

Why has 151 held its value when other sets dropped?
